Open Letter to Donald Trump

This isn't what I set out to write today.
I never had intentions of writing anything political in nature, I intentionally wanted to avoid the subject matter because I wanted to provide an escape from the ever growing issues of the United States government.
I cannot allow the events of today to go without voicing my opinions and feelings on the matter.
And I have decided to voice my feelings in an open letter to the 45th President of the United States, Mr Donald J. Trump.
Dear Mr. President Trump,
I would first like to start the letter by admitting to you that I have never been a supporter, or a fan, of yours, a “Never Trumper '', I suppose you would call me. I could not stand behind you after hearing you explain how “You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything” I’ll, admit, I was shocked you got elected after watching the video of you openly mocking a disabled reporter at a rally . I really expected that would be the end of it all, and to this day I don't understand how that wasn't the point you were #Canceled.
I did, however, accept you four years ago, against my shock, disbelief, and my dislike of your election, I accepted that you were, in fact, going to be the president.
You have, however, exceeded almost every expectation I had for your term as the leader of the country I was born and raised in. I expected you to screw things up, I did not expect you to make every attempt to completely dismantle and dissolve the working structure of the government, its economy, foregin affairs, and to incite unrest.
What a 4 years it has been with you. In 4 years you have managed to make disastrous decision, after horrible choice. Rejecting the science of climate change by pulling out of international agreements like the Paris climate accord. You repeatedly insult our allies while Kissing ass to dictators. You have widened the economic gap between upper and middle classes by approving tax reform which benefits the upper class, while ignoring the struggling middle class. Then, your administration's "zero tolerance" policy that caused the separations of more than 5,000 families, and you put kids in cages! After the death of George Floyd you had peaceful protesters tear-gassed just for a photo op with a bible, (don't think the irony of that moment was lost on me, Mr President.) You have sewn division amongst the American people during your 4 years like no other leader in the history of the nation has done before you.
Tweet by Tweet making the once respected nation i call home, an national punchline, and international disgrace.
In Hindsight, I should have protested your election, I should have voiced my concern over your ability to lead and govern a superpower of the world.
They say hindsight is 2020, and in 2020 I, along with the majority of voting Americans, rectified the mistake made 4 years prior, and elected a new man, a more qualified man, to have a term to govern this nation.
You have failed to have the ability to do what I did 4 years ago. Accept the results of an American Presidential Election that was not the result that you wanted.
The date as i write this is January 6, 2021. A date that will go down in infamy, as a red mark on the democratic history of the United States of America. Today the Capitol was stormed by fanatical supporters of yours. Supporters that you, Mr. President, have worked into a frenzy with a constant stream of false propaganda, lies, and gas-lighting on a scale that ,I dare say, has not been done before. These supporters took towards the capitol today, upon your encouragement to protest the certification of the President Elect Joe Biden. You have repeatedly and baselessly insisted that Vice President Pence has the power to challenge the election, which even Pence himself says he does not have the authority or power to do. Election officials have insisted over and over and over again that there was no evidence of widespread voter fraud. And yet just today you were encouraging your supporters, your mob of fanatics to “walk down Pennsylvania Avenue,” reassuring the crowd of an election win, that simply isn't happening for you this year.
I do not know why I expected less than this. I do not know why any part of me entertained the possibility that you could exit the white house with class or dignity. I am not sure what made me think that you could accept the failures of your term, and the loss of the power you never deserved. Nothing you did during your presidency, or prior for that matter, gave me any indication that you would react and conduct yourself in a manner any differently than a spoiled toddler-man who had his favorite toy taken away, after a missed nap.
I was once asked, by one of your die hard fans, what you ever “did to me personally”. Well, I feel fairly confident that I can take your actions as a personal attack, as a middle class, disabled, woman, you have targeted those demographics as well as any other demographic that didn't fit neatly into your dysfunctional version of whatever you thought it was that would “Make America Great Again”. What you have done to me personally, Mr. President, is take a country that was already great, admittedly far from perfect ,full of flaws, issues, injustices, and in need of work, but great nonetheless, and magnify all the things that were wrong, deepening the wounds of our history, failing to unite but never missing an opportunity to deepen our divisions. You took a great country and in 4 short years made it a shell of what it was, and set back what it was becoming.
You are the thing that needs to change in order to Make America Great Again. Your time to divide has come to an end. Accept, concede, move out and let us move on.
Sincerely,
An Average American
